Why should you use an infrared sauna after sunbathing?
At first glance, sunbathing and sauna use may seem like opposites, but in fact, they complement each other perfectly. During sunbathing, the skin is heavily exposed, especially to strong UV radiation. An infrared sauna session can help soothe sensitive skin, support natural regeneration, and may even help achieve a more even and long-lasting tan.
After intense sun exposure, the skin can become dry and slightly irritated especially with high UV levels. A gentle sauna session, particularly in an infrared sauna, can calm and revitalize the skin. The gradual warmth improves circulation, initiates regeneration, and increases the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the cells.
Philips Vitae full-spectrum infrared emitters operate in a range similar to natural sunlight, but without UV radiation. Tanning is not only about surface pigmentation it also involves processes in deeper skin layers. Infrared heat stimulates these deeper reactions, resulting in a more even and longer-lasting tan.
Sunlight contains IR-A, IR-B, and IR-C radiation along with UV rays. However, Philips Vitae emitters focus solely on the IR-A range, which penetrates deep into the skin, boosts circulation, but doesn’t burn the surface. This makes it the ideal choice for gentle regeneration after sun exposure.
The greatest risk of summer sun exposure lies in UV-A and UV-B rays. These can cause micro-damage and inflammation in the skin’s upper layers and, over time, lead to premature aging or even skin cancer. While infrared sauna use doesn’t replace sun protection, it can support the skin’s natural recovery, reduce inflammation, and help cleanse the skin. Sweating flushes out impurities, clears the pores especially beneficial at the end of a sun-filled day.
